On November 6, 2019, Lewis, Bess, Williams & Weese did a “take over” of the monthly Metro Volunteer Lawyers legal clinic at the Denver Indian Center. MVL provides free and low-cost civil legal services through multiple programs: referrals, the Family Law Court Program, Post-Decree Clinics, the Legal Clinic at the Denver Indian Center, and the Power of Attorney Clinics.
Director Carlos Romo coordinated the event with MVL, and Williams Weese Associates assisted applicants at the Denver Indian Center. They advised the clients pro bono by identifying legal issues and helping the applicants prepare for upcoming legal proceedings.
“Lewis Bess Williams & Weese has always been a big supporter of legal services organizations in Colorado and this month’s ‘take over’ of the Denver Indian Center Legal Clinic is just doing our part to support pro bono services in the community” said Carlos, Chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.
Dale added, “Metro Volunteer Lawyers and the Denver Indian Center provide a valuable resource to members of our community in need of legal services. The program does a great job of bridging the gap between legal demand and supply, and it was an honor to contribute to such a great organization.”
The Denver Indian Center has a walk-in clinic that takes place on the first Wednesday of every month from 6-8 pm. The attorneys at the clinic volunteer their time to help with resource referral, understanding the legal process, and how to proceed as a pro se party.
