Carlos Romo Joins Board of Colorado Hispanic Bar Association as Chair of Public Policy Committee

Denver, CO (August 20, 2018) –Lewis, Bess, Williams & Weese PC attorney Carlos Romo has been invited to join the Board of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association as the new Chair of the Public Policy Committee.

The CHBA is comprised of dedicated lawyers committed to improving the life of Hispanics in Colorado. One of the missions of the CHBA is to fight for the equal protection of the Hispanic community under the law. Carlos will lead the Public Policy Committee as they focus on issues related to the census, redistricting, and mental health.

“I am honored to join the board of the CHBA as chair of the Public Policy Committee. The CHBA has historically served an active role in social justice and policy issues affecting the Hispanic community. I look forward to working to ensure that our community’s voice is heard,” said Carlos.

One of Carlos’ first priorities as Chair of the Public Policy Committee was drafting comments on the Census Bureau’s proposal to add a citizenship question to the decennial census for the first time in nearly 70 years. “The census affects millions of dollars that the state of Colorado receives in federal funds for healthcare, education, and infrastructure” noted Carlos. “The Census Bureau should deploy resources to increase census participation rates, not jeopardize the accuracy of the count with untested questions that experts say will lead to a population undercount.” A copy of the letter submitted on behalf of CHBA can be found here.

At the firm, Carlos Romo is a corporate and regulatory attorney with a focus in Energy & Natural Resources, Administrative, and Environmental Law. He plans to leverage his knowledge of complex regulatory and litigation matters to benefit the CHBA and greater Hispanic community.
