Williams Weese Pepple & Ferguson is excited to announce that Clay Taylor joined the Firm as Counsel on July 19, 2021. Clay will practice in the Firm’s nationally recognized Environmental and Natural Resources practice areas.
Clay joins the Firm after spending three years as Senior Attorney in the Denver office of Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation. Clay has extensive experience leading environmental efforts and assisting in drafting and negotiating oil and gas midstream and asset purchase and sale agreements.
Jennifer Biever notes that “Williams Weese is very excited to welcome Clay. He brings extensive in-house and operational experience, particularly on environmental issues, to our oil and gas sector practice. His skills both compliment and supplement the Firm’s existing expertise in this area and will be a great benefit to clients.”
Prior to his experience as Senior Attorney at Whiting, Clay served as the company’s Environmental Attorney and Air Quality Specialist (2010-2018). In this role Clay not only provided legal advice to executives and select staff related to water and air quality issues, he oversaw and implemented environmental, health, and safety audits and environmental inspection programs. Clay has particular experience settling enforcement actions with state and federal agencies, including the EPA, and responding to Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act information requests. He also has experience in various Colorado air quality and oil and gas rulemakings.
Clay graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2009, where he also served as the Staff Editor of the University of Denver Water Law Review (2007-2008). Clay received his Bachelor of Arts, Environmental Studies, from University of Colorado, Boulder, CO.
